Commentary
And when the ugliness of their betrayal became known, the listener longed to know their punishment. So he said: ﴿Those﴾ meaning the distant and despised ones ﴿their punishment is that upon them is the curse of Allah﴾ meaning the Greatest King, and it is His anger and expulsion ﴿and of the angels and all the people﴾ until they themselves will curse themselves. For indeed, the disbeliever's heart is sealed, so he thinks he is on guidance and ends up cursing the disbeliever, believing that he is not a disbeliever. And this curse is upon them at the time of their engagement in the act for placing something in the wrong place. So everyone who has knowledge distances them due to their evil actions for replacing the good with the bad, and in caution from doing something similar with him.
