And when the one who perceives every prophet is only the community of the prophet who came before him, and they used to deny him and oppose him, he said - concluding this narrative after the testimony of his own sacred self, as he began with his saying: "Allah bears witness" [Aal 'Imran: 18] up to "Indeed, the religion with Allah is Islam" [Aal 'Imran: 19] in the context of denial and threat, adding to what the context indicates -: "So is it other than Allah that they seek?" meaning they turned away and became disobedient, which resulted in them being outside the religion of Allah. It has been stated that the precedence of "other than" implies that the denial is a decline in their request for something other than the religion of Allah, and that is not the intended meaning as is clear. I respond that its precedence indicates concern for the matter in denial, and the specification is delayed to take into account the calamity of others - as has been established in its place. "The religion of Allah" which is characterized by attributes of perfection. "They seek" meaning they request with their disobedience, or have you turned away - according to the reading of the address. "And to Him belongs" meaning while it is specifically His. "Islam" meaning they submitted by complying with His rulings and acting according to His will and decree; they are unable to overpower His decree in any way. "Whoever is in the heavens and the earth" refers to those who have the strength to defend with body and mind, so how about others? "Willingly" by faith or by what aligns with their interests. "And unwillingly" by submitting to His overpowering in the Islam of any of them, even if His supporters are many and His authority is strong, to the extent that he hates what he hates while he is humbled and subdued, unable to command anything or find assistance. "And to Him they will be returned" on the Day of Gathering; they will not find a refuge nor will they encounter a place of escape. So if they are like that, they cannot escape from His grip by any type of strength or stratagem in stillness or movement, how can they oppose what has come to them of His command through the tongues of His messengers, and it has been established that they are His messengers by what each of them brought of miracles! And it is known that the one who opposes the messenger, blessings and peace be upon him, is opposing the sender.
