Commentary
And when they claimed the negation of wrongdoing against them, and Allah, glorified and exalted is He, clarified that they do not shy away from lying, He stated their lies in this matter specifically by saying: "Indeed". That is, upon you is their betrayal regarding the prohibition of the excuse upon you absolutely, meaning there is a way - as it is in the Torah, and it has been previously mentioned in Al-Baqarah in the verse: "Indeed, those who have believed and those who have become Jews" [Al-Baqarah: 62] and the verse: "And speak to the people good" [Al-Baqarah: 83].
And when their division into trustworthy and treacherous was established, He began with the glad tidings of the former and the warning of the latter in a general manner for them and for others regarding the prohibition of betrayal in every law concerning each of them. Indeed, Allah dislikes the treacherous, so He said: "Whoever fulfills his covenant" in religion and worldly matters, "and is conscious of Allah" meaning whoever it may be, "then indeed, Allah" the Lord of glory and honor, loves him. This is the principle, but He has shown the description to link the ruling to it and to indicate that it is the reason that carries it upon trustworthiness, so He said: "He loves the righteous."
