And when He concluded the speech regarding them by negating their awareness, the Exalted clarified in the context of reproach that their denial is only because they are obstinate. They do not act according to their knowledge, but rather act contrary to it. He then said, beginning with what indicates the utmost reproach that signals severe anger: "O People of the Book," meaning those who claim that they are people of knowledge, "why do you disbelieve"—a disbelief that you renew at every moment—"in the signs of Allah?" meaning you conceal what you have of knowledge because of the signs that were revealed to you from the King, who encompasses all things in greatness, might, and knowledge, "and you witness"—meaning you know with knowledge that is fully apparent that they are His signs;
