And when the eternal knowledge was established that the disputants regarding the matter of Jesus, blessings and peace be upon him, would refrain from the mutual invocation after the debate, out of fear of being eradicated in this world along with the everlasting disgrace in the Hereafter, and their refraining from that necessitated the cutting off of their claims for everyone who witnesses them or receives news of them, it was fitting to follow that with His saying: - as a reminder of the greatness contained therein - ﴿Indeed, this﴾ meaning what has been previously mentioned regarding the matter of Jesus, blessings and peace be upon him, and others ﴿is indeed﴾ meaning specifically, without others that oppose it ﴿the true narrative﴾ and the narrative - as al-Harali said - is the following of events by reporting about them one after another in their order, in the meaning of narrating the trace, which is to follow it until it reaches the place of the trace.
