Commentary
And when the situation may require that it be said by some of the people of misguidance: Indeed, these have good deeds and great efforts in obedience, Allah, the Most High, clarified that those actions are merely forms without meanings, to undermine the principles. Just as they themselves are entities without hearts, so that the correspondence occurs between the deeds and the doers, He said: ﴿Those﴾ meaning the distant, the despised ﴿whose deeds have failed﴾ meaning they have become corrupted and have fallen. He indicated by the feminine form of the verb to show their weakness from their origin ﴿their deeds﴾ meaning all of them, worldly and religious. And Allah informed by His saying: ﴿in this world﴾ as al-Harali said - that they follow their good deeds with tyranny that erases them, so they do not hope for their reward in this world or the Hereafter. Thus, humiliation continued upon them, and few among them were guided - it has ended. ﴿And the Hereafter﴾ so Allah does not establish for them a weight on the Day of Judgment, and He omitted the mention of life as an indication that they have no life in either of the two abodes.
And when the estimation is: So they will not have any support by themselves at all, for they do not plan a plan except that it contains their destruction, He added to it His saying: ﴿And they have no supporters﴾ (p-302). Al-Harali said: In it is an indication of the occurrence of dominance over them, a dominance for which there is no support for them on the Day of the promised victory in Surah Ar-Rum, which is a detail of the meaning of this Surah in His saying: ﴿And on that Day the believers will rejoice﴾ [Ar-Rum: 4] ﴿By the victory of Allah, He supports whom He wills﴾ [Ar-Rum: 5]. They are not among those whom Allah supports, as it has been reported that they will be killed in the end of times until the stone says: O Muslim! Behind me is a Jew, so kill him, until there remains of them only that which the tree of Al-Farqad conceals.
