Commentary
And when he informed of their destruction; he indicated it by a state of the doer of "you think"; so He said (exalted is He): "And to Allah"; meaning: the One who possesses all attributes of perfection; alone; "is the dominion of the heavens and the earth"; meaning: it does not occur in their thoughts; while His dominion encompasses them; and He has all that they can possibly turn to; and He has what their capacities cannot reach of the dominion of the two horizons; so He is encompassing of all things. "And Allah"; meaning: the One who possesses all greatness; "is capable of all things"; and He is encompassing in power; so whoever is in His dominion is in His grasp; and whoever is in His grasp is incapable of escaping from what He intends for him; because He is the Ever-Living, the Sustainer; the One who there is no deity except Him - as He began the surah with this.
