Commentary

And when he finished explaining the error that occurred to them by which they were led astray; and the warning of what leads to it; and the encouragement towards what saves from it in those methods that are sweeter than the pure water; and more delightful than the connection after a long wait; he began to encourage them towards striving against the corrupt; so he started with the strongest reason; which is the command to observe the fates of those who have passed from among the deniers by seeing their dwellings; and following their traces; although they were stronger in creation; and more resolute in determination; and greater in number; and more fortified in their numbers; so he said (the Exalted) - explaining the command to hasten to forgiveness -: "Certainly, there have passed"; and when knowledge is near in time; and place; it is complete; and those upon whom the decrees fell were all the people of the earth; and not in all times; he affirmed the connection; so he said: "Before you"; meaning: do not think that by what He has decreed for them with this delay that His blessing has been cut off from them; "Decrees"; meaning: occurrences that Allah has established in the past centuries; and the nations that have passed; among the believers; and the deniers; and conditions and ways that were for both groups; so take example from the believers; and expect for your enemies what was for the deniers; so look and reflect deeply on the conditions of the two groups; and if that does not occur except by striving in hard work; and severe toil; "So travel in the land"; meaning: to take heed from the conditions of those nations; by seeing their traces; to combine good with good; and to learn from the eye by the effect; and to link between transmission and observation; and when returning from the slip is obligatory immediately; he followed his saying with the letter 'fa': "So look"; meaning: a look of consideration; and he alerted to the greatness of what is observed; as it is worthy of being inquired about; because it has gone beyond the norms; and its complexity has increased; so he said: "How was the end of"; meaning: the last affair of the "deniers".
