Commentary
And when He encouraged them to spend in a way that includes all good; and informed them that He is knowledgeable of its details and its generalities; and informed that this was the habit of Israel - blessings and peace be upon him -; in a way that produced that his sons are liars in their claim that they are upon the religion of their grandfather Ibrahim - blessings and peace be upon him -; then He warned them; and concluded what He concluded with the righteous; by encouraging good; in which spending is included, which He presented at the beginning of the surah as being from the attributes of the righteous who seek forgiveness at dawn, which is the most noble time of the night; and it was among what prevents them from it the fear of poverty; and descending from the state of the affluent among the disbelievers who boast of abundance; who are reproached for being few in wealth and children; standing with the worldly state; and He had informed that He does not accept from any of them in the Hereafter a full earth of gold; He followed this with something similar; in a more general way; so He said - describing the opposites of those who preceded; negating what they believe that their apparent deeds benefit them -: "Indeed, those who disbelieve"; meaning: in Allah; by deviating from the straight path; even if they claim faith in Him hypocritically; or otherwise; "their wealth will not avail them"; meaning: even if it is abundant; "nor their children"; even if they are great; "from Allah"; meaning: the King who has no equal; "anything"; meaning: of enrichment; affirming what He established regarding the lack of support for the people of the Book; who were led to prefer disbelief over faith in order to attract wealth; and leadership over followers; in a way that encompasses all disbelievers - as He said at the beginning of the surah - equally.
And when the estimation was: "So those are the losers"; He added to it His saying: "And those are the companions of the Fire"; meaning: they are exclusively for it; then He began what indicates their permanence in it; so He said: "They will be in it forever."
