Commentary
And when He frightened His servants, the good-doers and the wrongdoers, and struck them with the whip of domination altogether, He indicated the hint of threatening the liars in the explicit encouragement of the truthful. He said, as a means of deriving from what has passed: ﴿Whoever hopes﴾ He expressed it because hope is enough against the fear of Him, glorified and exalted is He: ﴿the meeting with Allah﴾ meaning: the gathering of the attributes of perfection. It is not permissible for Him to abandon resurrection, for that is a deficiency and a contradiction to wisdom. He likened resurrection to meeting due to the removal of many of the veils by it and the presence of recompense.
And when the denier of resurrection is many, He emphasized and said in a place: So indeed it is coming, so let him beware and let him be given glad tidings, magnifying the matter and affirming it and terrifying: ﴿For indeed the appointed time of Allah﴾ meaning: the Most High King, who has absolute wealth and all the attributes of inevitable perfection for that ﴿is coming﴾ there is no escape from it. For it is not permissible for Him to [have] the occurrence of breaking the promise. And for that reason, He expressed it with the greatest name, and to indicate that the horrors of the meeting cannot be encompassed by counting, nor can they be limited by a boundary. Therefore, let him strive and fight against himself who advises it. And He, the Exalted, said: ﴿And He﴾ meaning: alone ﴿is the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing﴾ urging to purify the outward and inward in contract, speech, and action.
