And when it was in the context of the trial, and he mentioned from the prophets one whose trial was prolonged, he clarified that there was no follower from their nations who could support them. And that Allah, glorified and exalted is He, took care of them, so no one could destroy them, and He destroyed their enemies. So there were no supporters for them. He said: ﴿So he believed in him﴾ meaning: for the sake of his supplication for him along with what he saw of the signs. ﴿Lot﴾ meaning: the son of his brother Haran alone, and he was the first to believe him among the men. ﴿And he said﴾ meaning: Ibrahim, blessings and peace be upon him, affirming what is worthy of denial regarding the migration due to its difficulty: ﴿Indeed, I am migrating﴾ meaning: leaving my land and my tribe for the purpose of migration from them, so I am moving and withdrawing ﴿to my Lord﴾ meaning: to a land where there is no companion or tribe, nor one whose support is hoped for, nor one whose affection is beneficial. At that time, the satisfaction with Allah alone becomes clear, and reliance upon Him without anyone else. So he migrated from Kutha from the blackness of Kufa to Harran, then from there to the holy land. Thus, he had two migrations, and he was the first to migrate for the sake of Allah. Al-Muqatil said: And at that time he was seventy-five years old. Then he explained that which would console him about leaving his land and the people he loved from his relatives and kin and those close to him. He said, affirming to calm anyone who might follow him and to ease for him the separation from what souls are accustomed to, that there is no honor except with Him from tribes, wealth, and knowledge: ﴿Indeed, He alone﴾ meaning: is ﴿the Mighty﴾ meaning: He is deserving of honoring whoever turns to Him. ﴿The Wise﴾ so when He honors someone, His wisdom prevents him from being subjected to humiliation, whether by action or words, as He did to me when He intended to humiliate those who were deserving of honoring me from my tribe and my close relatives, and He exaggerated in harming me: from those who were truly beneficial to me from my relatives and loved ones.
