And when it has been established, glorified and exalted is He, that the successful one is he who repents, believes, and does righteous deeds, and it is he whom the people of knowledge have indicated will have the reward of Allah. This is a cause and an effect for the Hereafter. It has been mentioned that this abode is for transience; neither men nor wealth will avail therein. The Hereafter is for permanence. It has been commanded therein that one should seek goodness in the matters of this world, and it has been concluded that this success is taken away from the disbelievers. Thus, the place of reminding of the Hereafter was established, even though it was mentioned close to its mention and the mention of its agreement filled the ears. It made it present for every person of understanding, and esteemed in the eyes of every person of knowledge. He, glorified and exalted is He, referred to it for both matters: presence and greatness. He said: "That is" meaning: the matter that is observed by every eye, present in every heart, of great status, [with a] distant reputation, and high rank, whose news has been heard, and its descriptions and effects have settled upon the ears. "And not corruption" by doing what Allah dislikes, but they would be against what was in Pharaoh, Haman, and Qarun, of humility with leadership for the sake of carrying the religion from them, so that they may have a reward like that of those who are guided by them, not for a worldly gain. And the sign of exaltation for the sake of leadership is not corruption, that they do not take the servants of Allah as slaves, nor the wealth of Allah as spoils. The criterion is acting in a way that pleases Allah, and the glorification of the command of Allah, and turning away from the world.

And when this is an explanation of the state of those who fear the majesty of Allah, glorified and exalted is He, He informed that He always grants them victory in the end. So He said, expressing it with a nominal phrase to indicate stability: ﴿And the outcome﴾, meaning: the final state that follows all states for them in this world and the Hereafter. This is the original meaning, but He made it general and informed about the description that brought them that, so He said, glorified and exalted is He: ﴿For the righteous﴾, meaning: always in both abodes, there is no harm upon them. From the preposition, it is known that it is praiseworthy. And this verse distinguishes the people of the Hereafter from the people of this world. So whoever is ascetic in the first and diligent in righteousness, and has been tested in the beginning of his conditions and granted victory in his wealth, he is among the people of the Hereafter; otherwise, he is for this world.
