Commentary
And when he mentioned what the successful one has of hope on the Day of Judgment, he followed it by informing that guidance to success is only by Him. He indicated that the mention of the days of this world, which include night and day, is a sign of His oneness. It informs of the ability to resurrect after death by the repetition of creating each of the two colors after its annihilation and the repetition of causing people to die in sleep, then raising them by awakening. He concluded that with gratitude, indicating that it is the cause of success. He returned to the Day of Judgment, on which the fruits of all this will appear, admonishing against associating partners with Allah alongside the emergence of these signs of monotheism, and the absence of any established doubt about polytheism other than mere imitation. He said, warning them of their inability to provide proof when deserving of proof on the Day of Calling, in the presence of witnesses, with what is in it of emphasis for the warning through repetition, and the support for the declaration of faith and affirmation: "And the Day He will call them," meaning: these who think they can escape. "He will say" with a tongue of anger, humiliation, and reproach, and they have gathered together: "Where are My partners?" He repeated the indication that their associating partners is only by name and has no meaning in it at all. He said: "Those whom you used to claim," meaning: with all your effort until it became for you that in Mecca, "You claim" without any doubt for you in that when it is truly verified.
