Commentary
And when it stood upon the all-encompassing power and complete knowledge, and that He is the only God, whether they affirm His oneness or deny it, He established a clear proof for all of this with what He gathered of knowledge and wisdom and the completeness of power. He alerted to the necessity of praising Him, detailing some of what is worthy of praise. He said, presenting the night because its verse is negative, and it is earlier: ﴿Say﴾ to those who may oppose this, denying it, and He expressed it in the plural because it is more indicative of obligation and greater in refutation. He said: ﴿Have you considered﴾ meaning: inform me ﴿if Allah﴾ meaning: the Most High King, in view of the station of greatness and majesty ﴿has made the night﴾ in which there is moderation of the heat of the day ﴿everlasting﴾ meaning: always, and He said: ﴿until the Day of Resurrection﴾ alerting that this is something that cannot be denied ﴿Is there a god other than Allah﴾ the One of great status, who has no equal.
And when light is a blessing in itself, and it is known by it its Creator, He made it clear and concealed its effect, saying: ﴿He brings you light﴾ meaning: it is born in the day in which you spread, and for the strength of His indication of power and His introduction of Allah, He expressed it this way instead of saying: He brings you light. And when the night is a place of stillness and a gathering of the senses, it is more suitable for hearing and more penetrating for thought. He, exalted is He, said: ﴿Do you not hear﴾ meaning: what is said to you with attentiveness and contemplation, as is the case for one who is in the night and benefits from hearing it from those of understanding.
