Then he confirmed this meaning by his saying: ﴿And when it is recited﴾ meaning: its recitation is renewed. ﴿Upon them they said﴾ hastening: ﴿We have believed in it﴾. Then they justified [that by their saying] indicating the ultimate knowledge, confirming that whoever is upon a religion hardly believes in his return from it. So how about if its origin is true from Allah, ﴿Indeed, it is the truth﴾ meaning: the complete one, of which there is nothing beyond it except falsehood, while it is ﴿from our Lord﴾ the Benefactor to us. And each of the two descriptions necessitates belief and faith in it; then they justified their hastening to submission, alerting that they are in the utmost insight regarding it, by saying that they recite what they have in its true recitation, not only with their tongues. Thus, their saying, which their confirmation indicated, was true, showing their delight in it, which necessitates gratitude: ﴿Indeed, we were﴾ meaning: a state that is in the utmost firmness. And he indicated that whoever's Islam is correct, even if for a short time, submits to this Book, by affirming the connection, and he said: ﴿Before it, we were Muslims﴾ meaning: completely submissive to what has come to us from Allah, whether it aligns with our desires and what we are accustomed to or contradicts it. There is no doubt that the result was.
