And when the decree was as the context guided for those who ask about the reason for this strange action: he means by that the claim of the continuity of his kingdom, that no one among them would take it away from him. Some of his scholars informed him that he would overcome him and rescue his people from servitude. He added to this his saying that narrates that past state: ﴿And We want﴾ or it is a present state, meaning: he weakens them while we want in the future to strengthen them. That is: he wants the continuity of their weakness at the time of our intention against it, as we cut that by the intention of ﴿to bestow﴾ meaning: to give by our power and knowledge what is worthy of us to bestow with it (p-241) ﴿upon those who were weak﴾ meaning: their weakness occurred and this heinous act was made light of, and their lord did not observe them ﴿in the land﴾ meaning: the land of Egypt. [So they were humiliated and dishonored, and We showed them in themselves and their enemies according to what they love and beyond what they hope] ﴿and We will make them leaders﴾ meaning: foremost in religion and the world, scholars calling to Paradise, in contrast to what comes from the end of the family of Pharaoh. And that is with our making them also so that each one of them is fit to aspire to kingship after they were in the utmost distance from it ﴿and We will make them﴾ by our power and greatness ﴿the inheritors﴾ meaning: of the kingdom of Egypt, no one among the Copts disputes with them in it, and for every land we commanded them to seek it. And this is an indication of the destruction of all.
