And when He, glorified and exalted is He, clarified in this surah some of the wonders of the matter of Musa, blessings and peace be upon him, and the hidden aspects of his situation as He clarified, and these reports cannot be denied by the people of the Book, a type of denial. It was well-known that the Prophet, blessings and peace be upon him, did not know them nor any others except for the One, the All-Compelling. He indicated this, glorified and exalted is He, by His saying, a state from the pronoun of ﴿We gave﴾ [Al-Qasas: 43] ﴿And you were not on the western side﴾ meaning: the valley of the Ṭūr where Musa, blessings and peace be upon him, saw the fire, [and it is from what is adjacent to the sea from the western side towards the right of one heading towards the honored Makkah from the direction of Egypt]. So, the All-Mighty, the Compeller, called to him from it. (p-303) And He is the One with a purpose ﴿When﴾ meaning: at the time ﴿We decreed﴾ with Our words that which contains majesty, and He increased the greatness in His lofty ranks by indicating with the letter of purpose and said: ﴿To Musa the matter﴾ meaning: the matter of sending him to Fir'aun and his people, and what We intend to do of that in its beginning and during it [and its end] in general. So, everything We informed you of is in accordance with its details to its generality. So, you are where you hear that which We decreed to him from the side you are in ﴿And you were not﴾ meaning: in any way ﴿of the witnesses﴾ to the details of that matter which We summarized for Musa in that place at its times with those who witnessed it from the people of that era, from the seventy whom He chose or others who followed him or turned away from him until you inform of it all in this manner which We have brought you in these miraculous styles. And there is no doubt that the matter of your knowledge is likewise limited to your witnessing it at its time or your learning it from the Creator, or from the creatures who witnessed it, or those who informed them of it who witnessed it. And the absence of learning it from anyone of the creatures in the fame is like the absence of witnessing it at its time. So, there remains only receiving it from the Creator, and that is the truth in which there is no doubt for the fair-minded.
