Commentary
And when their destruction was caused by that, He said: ﴿So We seized him﴾ meaning: with Our might, a seizing of overpowering and punishment. ﴿And his troops﴾ meaning: all of them, and that is easy for Us. He indicated their contempt by saying: ﴿So We cast them﴾ meaning: upon their smallness and Our greatness ﴿into the sea﴾ so they were, despite their multitude and strength, like small pebbles thrown by a strong thrower from his hand into the sea. They disappeared instantly, and none of them returned to family or wealth. And when this verse caused knowledge that cannot be encompassed by understanding, He said: ﴿So look﴾ meaning: O you who seeks the signs, look into them with the gaze of consideration; and He increased the magnification of that by indicating that it is something that is right for him to be asked about, saying: ﴿How was﴾ meaning: the state that is the state ﴿the end of﴾ meaning: the last of the matter of ﴿the wrongdoers﴾. And even if their wrongdoing increased, and their matter became difficult, they vanished in the blink of an eye, as if they had never been, and they disappeared from the eyes as if they had never been made clear. And they remained silent after that matter and prohibition, so they became in a state where they were not made clear. Let those who have wronged be warned that if they persist in their wrongdoing, they will be cut off and made clear. And this is a great indication with the greatest good news that every wrongdoer will have such an end if the wronged, who is in the right, is patient with him and remains steadfast until Allah judges, and He is the best of judges.
