Commentary
And when he informed about the condition of the one he met, he informed about the condition of the one he parted from. He said: "And the heart of the mother of Musa became empty," meaning: her heart, which increased in burning with longing, fear, and sadness. This indicates that she cast him away at night, "empty," meaning: in a state of extreme fright due to what she was created with from the morals of humanity. All that was in it of the intended meanings, which should have calmed her heart, had gone from her. Then he continued with his saying: "Indeed, she was about to reveal everything that was concerning him, clearly stating it, concerning Musa, peace be upon him, that he was her son and so forth, due to the emptiness of her heart from the hidden matters and the scattering of her thoughts in every valley. "Had it not been that We bound her heart with Our greatness after We returned to it the righteous meanings that We had deposited in it, she would not have declared it due to Our binding upon it until it became like a pouch that was tied at its mouth so that nothing could come out of what was in it. Then he explained the binding by saying: "So that she would be among the believers," meaning: the ones who affirm what Allah has promised regarding his salvation and his message, those who are confident in that.
