Commentary

'In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful'

And with Him is assistance. And may Allah send blessings upon His most beloved of creations and the adornment of His servants, our master Muhammad and his family and companions.

Surah Al-Qasas

Its purpose is humility before Allah, which necessitates returning all matters to Him. This arises from belief in the Hereafter and belief in the Prophethood of Muhammad, blessings and peace be upon him, which is established by the miraculous nature of the Qur'an. It reveals the hidden truths through the tongue of one who has never learned knowledge from any of the creation. This results in the exaltation of the one who possesses it. This is what is derived from its naming as Al-Qasas, which was judged by Shu'ayb regarding the exaltation of the one who spoke to them, peace be upon him, and the suppression of the one who opposed him. Thus, the outcome was according to what he said, 'In the name of Allah,' who is characterized by grandeur and magnificence. He clothed His servants with the garments of His awe, 'the Most Gracious,' who encompasses with the blessing of eloquence, even the people of disbelief. 'The Most Merciful,' who specifically granted the blessing of what comes after resurrection to the people of faith.

When He concluded that with the assured promise that He would manifest His signs so they would be recognized, and that He is not unaware of anything, as a warning to the oppressor and a confirmation for the knowledgeable, the first of what He revealed in this were the miraculous methods from the hidden sciences of the people of the Book, so they could not respond to it. And from the second was what He did with Pharaoh and his people. He said at the beginning of this: ﴿Ta-Sin-Mim﴾, indicating with the beautiful ṭā that the purification and goodness would lead to the salvation of the Children of Israel after a long period of their trial, which is a great purification for them. And with the sīn, which symbolizes exaltation, brilliance, and leadership, that this would be heard from revelation in the valley of Ṭūwa from the ancient Mount Sinai. And with the mīm, which prepares for kingship and blessings, to a decree from the Most High King, with all of that being complete and abundant.
