And when the religion was completed by mentioning the three fundamentals: the origin, the return, and prophethood, and the preliminaries of the Resurrection and its conditions, [and some of its characteristics and what may occur from its terrors], and that is the completeness of what relates to the fundamentals of the religion in ways that are most encouraging and most terrifying, this encouragement and terror necessitated for every listener to say: So what should we do [and whom should we worship]? So the addressed one responded to him with this revelation. The one commanded to convey these comprehensive matters, the caller to whoever hears it, the guide for whoever follows it, that he does not approve for him what he approves for himself, and that is what his Lord commanded him. So he said: ﴿The one who made it sacred﴾ reminding them of His grace, glorified is He, upon them and His nurturing of them by having settled them in the best of His lands, and made them thus a source of awe in the hearts of His servants, by what He cast into the hearts that it is a sanctuary, [where no blood is shed,] and no one is wronged, and no hunting is permitted, and its trees are not cut down, and He specified it with that from among all His lands, while people are being taken away from around them and they are safe, nothing from their fright and terror reaches them. (p-228) And when its addition to Him is merely for the sake of honor, he said, guarding against what might be presumed: ﴿And to Him belongs everything﴾ meaning: from other than it, from what you have associated with Him and other than it, in creation, ownership, and dominion, and it is not like the kings who have nothing except what they have taken from others.
