Commentary

And when she knew that whoever the birds were made subservient to in this manner, nothing he wants would be too difficult for him, nor would anyone be able to plot against him, she inclined towards peace. So, glorified and exalted is He, He began to inform about her with His saying: ﴿She said﴾ in response to what she sensed in their reply of their inclination towards war, that the correct course, without doubt, is for us to devise a plan without intending this sovereign king; then she explained this which her speech context made clear with her saying: ﴿Indeed, kings﴾ meaning: absolutely, so how about this decisive matter of great significance ﴿when they enter a village﴾ meaning: forcefully by overpowering and conquering ﴿they corrupt it﴾ meaning: by plundering and destruction ﴿and they make the honored among its people humiliated﴾ meaning: by what they show them of might, and they impose upon them of oppression. Then she confirmed this meaning with her saying: ﴿And likewise﴾ meaning: and similar to this great act of significant importance, with a difficult and far-reaching path ﴿they always do﴾, it is a continuous characteristic of them, all of them are upon this. So how about one to whom the birds obey, those with nests, in what he wants from matters.
