And when this distinction and saying caused the display of His power, glorified and exalted is He, and their inability by throwing them into it, He said: ﴿So they were thrown down﴾, meaning: the idols and similar things, they were turned over, struck down, and thrown, a great, repeated, and swift turning by all whom Allah commanded to turn them after this question, showing their inability to act even in response before the response. ﴿In it﴾, meaning: in the abyss of Hell, a fierce and greatly multiplied turning, some of them following others. ﴿They﴾, meaning: the idols and what is similar to them from what was worshipped among the devils and their like. ﴿And the misled﴾, meaning: those who were led astray by them.
