Commentary
And when glorified and exalted is He completed what He intended from the story of Musa, blessings and peace be upon him, He followed it with a sign of His mercy, the story of Ibrahim, blessings and peace be upon him, due to what has preceded that he shared with him in what consoles regarding the mention of their stubbornness in the Furqan. And when he was specifically distinguished by confronting his father and his people regarding the idols, and he is the greatest of the Arab ancestors, so that this would be a motivation for them to imitate him in monotheism if they do not cease from imitation, and a deterrent from regarding their fathers' worship as significant. And His expression, glorified and exalted is He, of the context before and after, and His expression with His saying: ﴿And recite﴾ means: read a continuous reading, which favors the first estimation in 'And when' by making it 'Mention' and changing it in the expression with it for the context of what has preceded and what has followed to alert the Arabs to follow him for what they have in it of specificity ﴿upon them﴾ means: upon these who are deceived by the idols, denying the message of the human ﴿the news of Ibrahim﴾ means: his great news in such a matter.
