Commentary
And when the departure from such a thing is something that is disapproved, He indicated the greatness of His power by saying: ﴿Thus﴾, meaning: like that amazing departure which Pharaoh intended from his people in swiftness and complete awe. We brought them out by making it easy for him and for them, and we provided them with the means, due to what our wisdom required. Or like that departure which we narrated to you, we brought them out, meaning: the reality of their departure was in accordance with what we expressed about it. Or the matter which we narrated is all as we said, and its beginning is its best and most excellent. ﴿And We made them inherit﴾, meaning: those hidden blessings by merely their departure with strength and by destroying them in action. ﴿The Children of Israel﴾, meaning: we made them in a position to inherit it because we did not leave for them a barrier preventing them from it after they had been excluded under the hands of its owners. As for their inheritance of it in action, there is a consideration regarding His saying in Al-Dukhan ﴿another people﴾ [Al-Dukhan: 28].
