And when he established the condition of their followers, it became known from him that they are more misguided than them, due to their indulgence in the desire for the clamor of the tongue, until falsehood and slander appeared good to them. This is indicated by his saying: "Have you not seen that they" meaning: the poets, and he likened their condition by saying: "in every valley" meaning: from the valleys of speech, including praise, invective, lineage, elegy, fervor, and obscenity, and other than that. "They wander" meaning: they move like the wandering one, confused and deviating from the path of truth, however the speech draws them, they are drawn into disparaging lineages, expressing affection for the forbidden, invective, and praising those who do not deserve praise, and so on. For this reason, he said.
