Commentary
And when His decree was that they call upon the false deities, while the Qur'an calls to Allah, the True and Clear, He caused His saying: "So do not call" to follow. He addressed His Prophet, blessings and peace be upon him, who is the most honored of creation to Him and the most beloved to Him, so that it may be a kindness to others in what he brings of warning. Thus, the threat would be more effective for him, and he would be more receptive to it. "With Allah" means: the One who possesses all the perfection of the one to whom this Qur'an calls, which the Trustworthy Spirit descended with upon you, due to the completeness of the relationship between you and Him in light and goodness. "A god" has preceded in the end of Al-Furqan the wisdom of bringing His saying: "Another, so that it may cause" meaning: it may result from that that you become "among the punished" from the One who is capable of what He wills with the easiest and simplest matter. This speech is for everyone who hears the Qur'an in urging to contemplate its meaning, its purpose, and its intent, so that it may be known that it is in the utmost distinction from the devils and their misguidance, and in alignment with the close ones and their states. Perhaps He addressed the infallible with it, as an increase in urging to follow the guidance and avoid the misguidance, and to connect with His saying.
