Commentary
And when the decree was: It did not avail them anything because they were not taken except after the warning of the warners, due to your direct addressing of them with it, and their hearing of similar from those who preceded them from the messengers. He then added to it His saying: "And We did not destroy" meaning: by Our greatness. And know with the comprehensiveness of His saying: "from a village" meaning: from the past villages, with the punishment of complete destruction, "except that it had warners" their messenger and those who followed him from his community and those who heard from the messengers about their news along with their nations before. And He omitted the conjunction 'wa' (and) because the situation did not require emphasis as in Al-Hijr, because the warners are present. And if you reflect on the verses of the two places, this will become clear to you.
