And when the situation necessitated saying: Who brought this statement from the Possessor of Glory? He said: ﴿It was brought down by﴾, meaning: in stages from the highest horizon, which is the place of blessings. He referred to Jibril (Gabriel), may peace be upon him, by saying: ﴿the Spirit﴾, indicating that he is a source of good, and that the spirits come with what he brings down of guidance. And he said: ﴿the Trustworthy﴾, pointing to his being protected from all impurity, so betrayal cannot come from him.
