Then he connected his proof with that, saying, reminding of the action due to the severity of their disbelief, with the proof of what comes from the affirmation of the waw in ﴿And you are nothing but a human like us﴾ [Ash-Shu'ara: 186]. ﴿The companions of the thicket denied﴾, meaning: the grove with good land that absorbs water and causes much intertwined trees to grow. ﴿The messengers﴾, for their denial of Shu'ayb, peace be upon him, in what he brought of the heavenly miracle - in breaking the norm and the challengers' inability to resist it - for the remainder of the miracles brought by the prophets, blessings and peace be upon them.
