Commentary
And when Allah, the Most High, hastened in His response when they called for Him to give them what they proposed, He indicated that by saying: ﴿He said﴾ meaning: in response to their proposal: 'Come, see what I bring you as a sign of my truthfulness.' So they came, and Allah brought forth for him from the rock a she-camel ten months pregnant, as they had proposed. He then indicated to it with a gesture of closeness, pointing to the ease of bringing it out and its quickness: ﴿This is a she-camel﴾ meaning: My Lord brought it forth from the rock as you proposed; then he indicated that in this sign there is another sign, in that it drinks all the water of the well on the day of its turn and abstains from it on the second day for their sake, by saying: ﴿It has a share of water﴾ meaning: a portion of water on a known day ﴿and you have a share on a known day﴾ meaning: a portion of water on a known day ﴿with no crowding between you and it in anything of that.
