'In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful'
Surah Ash-Shu'ara
Its purpose is that this book is clear in itself by its miraculous nature that it is from Allah. It clarifies every ambiguity, and among that is another clarification of those before it with its details, and its revelation regarding the conditions of nations and its representation. It calms the grief of him ﷺ out of fear that humiliation may befall his nation due to lack of faith, and that their intention may intensify to harm and aggression against his followers, by what 'sawfa' implies of a long duration, indicating the destruction of those known for their continuous disobedience, and the mercy of those whom He wants for guidance and goodness. Its naming as 'the Poets' is the clearest evidence of that, by which the Qur'an distinguishes itself from poetry due to the high status it holds, the correctness of its methodologies, the nobility of its aims, the truthfulness of its promises and warnings, and likewise its naming as 'the Shade' indicates that it is more just in its clarification, or more indicative in all its matters, than the measures indicated by the story of Shu'ayb, peace be upon him, with the scale and the balance, and it has burned from the shade for those who confront it with disobedience.
'In the name of Allah' which indicates the exaltation of His words, the greatness of His status, and the nobility of His aims. 'The Most Gracious' who does not hasten against those who disobey Him, 'the Most Merciful' who revives the hearts of the people of His love with success for what He is pleased with.
[Ta-Sin-Mim] may indicate the purity that occurs in Dhituw from the Mount Sinai and Taybah and Makkah, and the best of what was revealed to Muhammad ﷺ from what encompasses all of that, as narrated from Ibn Abbas, may Allah be pleased with both of them, which guides to that, and to the salvation of the Children of Israel by what Musa, peace be upon him, heard from the ancient words, and by completing their matter by preparing them for kingship through the drowning of Pharaoh and his soldiers, and their victory over those who opposed them in that time after their purification by the long trial that led them to the humiliation of servitude. And all of that is an indication of the threat to Quraysh that if they do not abandon their obstinacy, He will do to them what He did to Pharaoh and his soldiers of humiliation in whatever way He wills. And He saved His servants from them, and honored them over all who opposed them.
