And when he mentioned the state of the warner with which he began the surah in his call to the Most Gracious, which if he had only called to His mercy, it would have been enough, then how about with all beauty and majesty? They denied Him. The situation necessitated that His proof be established by affirming what they are aware of from the effects of His mercy. So he detailed what he had summarized after mentioning the state of the warner, then from the King, introducing it with the description of the Truth, which he made the opening of the surah, responding to what they contained of denial. He said: ﴿Blessed﴾ meaning He established an establishment that has no equal. ﴿Who made in the heaven﴾ which he previously mentioned that He created it ﴿constellations﴾ and they are twelve constellations. They are for the wandering stars like the abodes for their people, named so for their appearance. And He built upon it the matter of the earth, managing its seasons, and He perfected thereby the livelihoods of its people.

And when the constellations, as they are known, cannot be suitable except with light, he mentioned it expressing it with the word lamp, saying: ﴿And made in them﴾ meaning the constellations ﴿a lamp﴾ meaning the sun.
