Commentary
Then he described Him with what necessitates that He, with His great power over dominion and creation, is characterized by deliberation, comprehensiveness of knowledge, and good management, so that the one who relies on Him may take Him as an example. He said: "The One who created the heavens and the earth," meaning in their greatness, "and what is between them" of space, elements, and His servants and their deeds, including sins and others.
"Does He not know who created?" [Al-Mulk: 14] And His saying: "In six days" is a wonder for the ignorant fool, a training for the intelligent scholar in forbearance, deliberation, and patience towards the servants of Allah in their calling to Allah, and a reminder of His great power and what necessitates it from comprehensiveness of knowledge. The intended measure is six of our days, for the days did not begin to be counted except after the creation of the sun, and the acknowledgment that specifying this number is for a great wisdom. Likewise, all of His actions, even if we do not comprehend that, is faith. Allah made Friday a holiday for the Muslims because creation gathered in it with the creation of Adam, peace be upon him, in the last hour.
And when the management of this dominion is a remarkable matter, He indicated it with a tool of delay, saying: "Then He established Himself on the Throne," meaning He began to manage this dominion which He created and brought into existence, and they and their sins are part of it, just as kings do in their kingdoms. There is no negligence from Him regarding anything at all, nor does a particle of existence or meaning occur except by a new creation from Him, glorified is He, in response to those who say among the Jews and others: that this is only by what He planned in the past from the causes, and that now He has no action.
And when the sinner, if he knows of the disobedience of the one he disobeys while he is able to do so, does not delay him, He indicated that He is not like that, urging kindness, by saying: "The Most Merciful," meaning the One whose mercy precedes His anger, and He does good to the one who denies Him, let alone others. His most deserving servants of embodying this character are His messengers. The essence is that He created this universe and began to manage it with the general mercy in His kindness to the one who hears him insult Him in relation to having a child, and denies Him in that He will bring him back as He began him. He, glorified is He, is capable of taking revenge on him, unlike the kings of this world, for they do not show mercy to those who disobey them despite their incapacity.
And when knowledge is essential for dominion, He caused this by His saying in a way of abstraction: "So ask by it," meaning by your asking Him, "an Expert" about these matters and every matter you want, so that He informs you of the reality of His matter, beginning, state, and outcome. So do not let your heart be constricted because of these whom you are calling, for He has not sent you to them except while He is knowledgeable of them. He will elevate your status over them and will grant you a good outcome.
