Commentary
And when the decree was a consolation for him, blessings and peace be upon him: adhere to what We command you and let your concern not be increased by their rejection of what they are in. For We did not send you as a guardian over them. He then referred to His saying: ﴿And We did not send you﴾ meaning by what We have of greatness.
And when the context of the surah is for warning, due to what it mentions of their evil statements and the ugliness of their actions, the expression in the good news is appropriate to indicate the abundance of the action, and it implies the abundance of the object acted upon, as good news of the abundance of the obedient. And in the warning, it implies that it should be a necessary attribute, so He said: ﴿Except as a giver of good news﴾ meaning for everyone who believes ﴿and a warner﴾ for everyone who disobeys.
