Commentary
And when the one who intends to nullify something, due to his intense hatred for it, does not settle for its nullification by anything else, but rather comes to it himself and nullifies it, he expressed this by saying: ﴿And We brought﴾ meaning with what we have of overwhelming greatness on that day in which they see the angels, whether it is in this world or in the Hereafter ﴿to what they have done of deeds﴾ meaning of noble morals (p-371) such as generosity, maintaining family ties, forbearance, striving for good, aiding the distressed, and others ﴿So We made it﴾ because it was not established on faith, but rather it is for desire and Satan - null and of no benefit in it, and this is the meaning of ﴿like dust﴾ which is what is seen in the sunlight coming in from the window, resembling dust, for it is most like nothingness because it has no benefit at all.
And when the dust is seen in stillness, it appears organized, but when the wind stirs it, it scatters and goes in every direction, most of its entry into the realm of nothingness despite being tangible. He said, emphasizing the description of their deeds: ﴿scattered﴾ and it is an adjective, and it was said: a third action for 'made', meaning we made the deeds gathered to the insignificance of the dust and scattering.
