And the fifth is that the curse of Allah, the Most Great, is upon this slanderer himself if he is among the liars in what he has accused her of. And because of his swearing with these severe oaths of his truthfulness and Allah's ruling of his innocence, the child has been denied from him. Thus, it necessitated from his denial the permanent separation without any wording for its unsuitability to be a bed for him, because the child belongs to the bed. And the li'an is not valid except before a judge. It is clear what is in this regarding the distancing from slander by the necessity of increased caution, due to the repetition and the conjunction with the Greatest Name, and the combination between affirmation and what entails denial, and the invocation of the curse that distances from the attribute of the believer. So if the husband does that, the punishment of slander is lifted from him and it becomes obligatory upon the slandered woman. For this reason, Allah, the Exalted, said.
