And when He, glorified and exalted is He, established the evidence that He is the Light of the heavens and the earth by the fact that nothing can exist except by Him, glorified and exalted is He, He concluded with a warning to every opposer. This resulted in the affirmation that He has everything, as He said: "Indeed, to Allah belongs" meaning that He has all the glory, all of "what is in the heavens". And to affirm that He, glorified and exalted is He, encompasses knowledge and power, the position did not require the emphasis of repeating the relative clause, so He said: "and the earth" meaning of substance and attribute, and they are also His because the earth is in the heavens, and every heaven is in the one above it until this reaches the Throne, which He has explicitly stated in other verses that He is its owner. And it is also a heaven due to His exaltation above what is below Him, so everything in it belongs to Him. This is more eloquent - for its indication through the metaphorical way - than if He had stated it explicitly. Thus, this indicated - after the indication of (p-327) His existence - His oneness, and the perfection of His knowledge and power.

And when their states are among what belongs to Him, it is known that they do not stand in their essence nor do they have permanence except by His knowledge and because they are by His creation. Therefore, He said, affirming and warning: "He certainly knows what you are" O people, all of you "upon it" meaning now. The intended meaning of the present tense here is the existence of the description without regard to time. If He had expressed it in the past tense, it would have been assumed to be specific to it. And the discussion about including "certainly" in it is as previously mentioned, considering those with insight in vision, and the people of weakness and muddiness. "And on the Day" meaning He knows what they are upon on the Day "they are returned" meaning by the overpowering of an overpowerer over them regarding that, they will not be able to defend themselves against Him, nor will there be any type of prevention "to Him". And the original was: what you are upon, but He turned away from them to emphasize the matter, or this may be specific to those who turn away, indicating that they will dispute the reckoning. And the secret of the wrapping is to alert to the turning away from the denier of the resurrection, and to turn towards the one who affirms, preserving the precious words from the rude, ignorant, and vile. "So He will inform them" meaning it will result from that that He will inform them with a great informing "of what they have done". So let them prepare for every one of it a response. "And Allah" meaning the One who has complete encompassing knowledge "of everything" from that and other than it "is Knowing". Therefore, He revealed the clear verses, and He was the Light of the earth and the heavens. Thus, He returned the conclusion to the beginning, and the last was connected to the first, and the praise is for Allah, the Guide.
