Then he mentioned what is more indicative of choice, saying, translating what has passed with an addition: "Allah turns" meaning the One to whom belongs all command by turning darkness into light and light into darkness, and sometimes decreasing and at other times increasing, with rain at one time and clear weather at another time. "Night and day" arise from this turning of heat and cold, growth and variety, and dryness what amazes the minds. For this reason, he said, alerting to the result: "Indeed, in that" meaning the great matter he mentioned from all that has preceded, "is a lesson for those of insight" meaning the perceptive, and the discerning hearts, who pass from it to the knowledge of what the Planner has of complete power and comprehensive knowledge that certainly indicates on the Oneness.
