And when the denial means negation, his saying: "Rather" is appropriate. That is, the matter is not as they say. We did not come to them with magic; rather, it could mean: it is not legends, but "We brought them" in it with Our greatness "with the truth," meaning the complete truth that there is no truth after it, as indicated by the definite article "Al." So everything he informed of regarding monotheism, resurrection, and others is true. "And indeed they are liars" in their saying: indeed it is magic with no reality to it, and in all that they claimed regarding offspring, partners, and others, which the Qur'an has clarified as falsehood, just as they were bound by what they acknowledged in response to these three questions.
