Commentary
Then he informed about 'that' with evidence from the reading of Al-Sulami with the small 'ya'. He said: ﴿We race to them﴾ meaning by it our hastening to them in the speed of one who competes with another ﴿in good deeds﴾ which there are no good deeds except for them because they are praiseworthy in outcome. It is not like that, rather it is a burden upon them because it is a gradual leading to destruction since they are not acting in what pleases the Most Merciful. ﴿Rather﴾ they are hastening in the causes of evils, and there is no cause except its cause. But they are like animals ﴿they do not perceive﴾ that they are in the utmost distance from good deeds. 'We will gradually lead them from (p-159) where they do not know.'
