Commentary
And when this was a justification for what preceded it from the matter, the saying: ﴿And indeed﴾ was added to its wording with a kasrah in the reading of the Kufans. And to its meaning, it was deserving of it if the lam of the reason were to be expressed with a fathah in the reading of others. ﴿This﴾ means your calling, O mentioned prophets, in general and in detail, and your community united upon the oneness of Allah, or the group that I saved with you from the believers. ﴿Your community﴾ means your intended goal that you should not direct your aspirations towards anything else, or the group of your followers while it is ﴿one community﴾ with no division in it at all. So as long as it remains united, it is pleasing. ﴿And I am your Lord﴾ means the one who does good to you with creation and provision alone. So whoever affirms My oneness will be saved, and whoever multiplies the lords will perish.
(p-156) And when the address in this entire surah is to the elite among the prophets and those who followed them from the believers, He said: ﴿So fear Me﴾ means make a barrier between you and My anger by gathering My servants to call to My oneness without any division at all, unlike the Surah of the Prophets which begins with people, for the generality of the expression is more appropriate for its call.
