And when their arrogance and pride caused them to deny following, he said: "So they said, 'Shall we believe?'" meaning in Allah, affirming "in two humans." And since 'like' and 'other than' can be described by them for the masculine, feminine, dual, and plural without change, and there was no need for duality, he said: "like us," meaning in humanity, food, drink, and other things that befall humans, as said by those who preceded them. "And their people," meaning while their people "are worshipping us," meaning in utmost humiliation and submission like slaves, so we are higher than them by this. And oh, how I wish to know why, when they made this a semblance, they did not make their inability to destroy the messengers and what they bring of miracles a criterion. And what is their response to the fact that among people there is the ignorant who does not guide to anything and the knowledgeable who surpasses description? Who is it that distinguishes between them? And if disparity between them in that is permissible, then why is it not permissible in other matters?
