And when the people of Pharaoh denied faith in a human like themselves, as mentioned by those who preceded him from the people of Noah and the generation that followed them, and they were the most affluent of their time, the strongest among them, and the most numerous in forces, and they enslaved the Children of Israel. And it has been conveyed to us from the signs that their Messenger displayed, which have not been conveyed to us like them from those who preceded him. He, glorified and exalted is He, made it clear. And it was as if the message to them came after a long period. So He indicated it by the word of delay, saying: 'Then We sent.' That is, with what We have of greatness, 'Moses.' And He increased the consolation by saying: 'And his brother Aaron.' That is, as a supporter for him, and to clarify that the destruction of Pharaoh and all his people, along with the salvation of the two Messengers together and those who believed in them, was intended by the One, the Subduer, for the success of the believers and the failure of the disbelievers, 'by Our signs.' That is, the miracles, by Our greatness for whoever challenges them, 'and a clear authority.' That is, a binding, great, and clear proof, which is His protection, and He alone is above all who oppose Him. And they, with their strength, fill the earth, yet they are incapable of all that they seek to plot against Him. And although this is among the signs, it is the greatest of them, and it alone is sufficient to necessitate belief.
