And when this story is one of the strangest stories, He urged reflection upon it by His saying: "Indeed, in that" meaning the great matter that was mentioned regarding Noah and his people, and likewise what is a foundation for it: "are signs" meaning indicators that point to the truthfulness of the prophets in that the believers are the successful ones, and that they are the inheritors of the earth after the wrongdoers, even if their might is great and their power is strong. "And indeed" meaning and certainly, with what we have of greatness, "we were" with what we have of the established description that indicates the completeness of ability, "testing" meaning acting as the one who tests for our servants by sending the messengers, so that the righteous among them may be distinguished from others in the realm of testimony. Then we test the righteous among them with what increases their good deeds, decreases their bad deeds, and elevates their ranks. Then we make for them the good end, so we test the wrongdoers with what necessitates their destruction, ruins their homes, and erases their traces. This is our continuous custom until we inherit the earth and whoever is upon it, so that the clear trial may occur.
