Commentary
And when the difference between animals in strength and ease of submission is an indication of the perfection of ability, and carrying for oneself and for others from the animals is among the greatest benefits, such that without it most interests would be hindered, He reminded of it by mentioning it in relation to others on land indirectly, and mentioning the carriers of the sea directly. He said, presenting the neighbor, except for carrying others in relation to its carrying due to its great impact: "And upon them" meaning the good animals suitable for carrying from camels and cattle on land "and on the ships" in the sea. And when it is known from their being subdued despite their size and strength, and the refusal of others despite their smallness and weakness, that there is no doer of that except Allah, while the one who is favored by it is the act of carrying itself, not by looking at something else, the saying: "You are carried" was built for the passive by His grace upon you in that. And if He had willed, He would have prevented it. So remember His great ability and the perfection of His creation, and glorify Him as He deserves to be glorified, and be grateful to Him for what He has bestowed upon you of those blessings, and dedicate your religion to Him sincerely, so that you may succeed and be among the inheritors.
