Commentary
And when glorified is He brought forth these two proofs regarding the ability to resurrect, He followed them with what is of their kind and similar to the first of them. This is, with that, a proof of the greatness of the second, that it is one of the greatest blessings that must be thanked. He said: ﴿And We sent down﴾ (p-121) meaning by Our greatness ﴿from the sky﴾ meaning from its direction ﴿water in measure﴾ perhaps - and Allah knows best - in measure of what irrigates the crops and trees, and revives the plains and deserts, and what the seas need, of what the rivers pour into them. If it were above that, the seas would have flooded the lands, and if it were below that, it would have led to the drying up of plants and trees. ﴿So We settled it﴾ by Our greatness ﴿in the earth﴾ some of it on its surface and some of it in its depths. We did not cover it with that which is on its surface, nor did We delve into what is in its depths, so that its benefit may be widespread and so that access to it may be easy. ﴿And indeed, We﴾ regarding what We have of greatness ﴿are capable of removing it﴾ meaning of its removal by various means of removal in every way, by corruption, elevation, and delving, and other than that, along with the removal of the blessing that would be for those whom We were with. ﴿Indeed, We are capable﴾ with a power that is at the peak of greatness. So beware of exposing yourselves to that which angers Us.
