Commentary

And when the cause of the faith of these was the increase of the disbelief of those, he said: "So you took them as a source of mockery." This means a place for ridicule, amusement, and service for you. Al-Shihab al-Samin said in its grammatical analysis: "And 'sukhriyyan' - with a dammah: is usage, and 'sukhriyyan' - with a dammah from it, and 'sukhru' without a ha: is mockery, and the broken form of it means in both readings, and in relation to it, it indicates an increase in strength in action, like specificity and servitude. 'Until they made you forget' means that they were the cause of that by your preoccupation with mocking them and distancing yourselves from them. 'My remembrance' means that you remember Me so that you fear Me by your complete turning towards that from them.

And when the estimation was: 'So you left Him and did not observe Me regarding My allies,' he added to it His saying: 'And you were' meaning with morals that are like an innate disposition 'from them' meaning specifically 'laughing' as if they had diverted their power to mocking them, counting their laughter at others as nonexistence.
