And when it has become customary that the one who is punished by an action is included in the blame, it was answered to those who may ask about that by saying: ﴿Did not﴾ it be said to them in their admonition and rebuke: Did not ﴿My signs﴾ which have reached the highest ranks by being attributed to Me? And when the mere mention of them is enough for faith, He pointed to that by using the passive form: ﴿They are recited to you﴾ meaning that their recitation is followed for you in this world little by little. And since they were a cause for faith, they made them a cause for disbelief, He said: ﴿So you were﴾ meaning that you are deeply rooted in it ﴿by it you deny﴾ and He placed the circumstance first to indicate their exaggeration in denial.
