Commentary
And when he misled that by resurrection, the soul longed for what would come after it. It had already been established that the people, after having been one nation in their gathering upon their Lord, became divided into factions, and they supported each other by that and allied with one another. He said, negating that: "So when the trumpet is blown," meaning with the easiest of matters, the second blowing, which is the blowing for resurrection, or the third for the fainting. "In the trumpet," and they will rise from the graves or from the fainting. "So there will be no kinship between them," which is the greatest of causes, "they will mention it, boasting of it, on that Day," due to what has overwhelmed them of the matter and occupied them from the hardship, and what has befallen them from astonishment, and they were terrified by the horror, and they knew of the ineffectiveness of it except for what Allah has permitted in it. Rather, a person will flee from his closest relatives. Indeed, their kinship is the righteous deeds. "And they will not ask one another," meaning in supporting each other, for it has been revealed to them that there is no judgment except for Allah, and that no soul will avail another soul anything. Thus, it resulted that there is no support except through deeds. May Allah have mercy on those facilitated for it, then have mercy on those who accept it. Therefore, he said.
